On a sunny day in California, Oliver sat down with Principle Magazin for a photoshoot and an interview.

Born and raised in London, England, Oliver Stark didn’t grow up dreaming of Hollywood stardom like many aspiring actors. Instead, he envisioned a future in business and pursued an economics degree at university, picturing himself as a savvy entrepreneur. But as time passed, he realized his heart wasn’t in it—a corporate career didn’t align with his true passions. Imagine if we’d lost Oliver to the business world, where he might have become a real estate tycoon or a shopping mall magnate. Fortunately, a journey of self-discovery led him to acting. With his parents’ unwavering support and the safety net of his London home, Oliver took a bold leap across the Atlantic.

Arriving in Los Angeles, he initially chased fame and fortune. A decade later, his definition of success has evolved. Now, a fulfilling role and the freedom to choose his projects matter most to him.

When he’s not filming—such as during the months-long hiatus between seasons eight and nine of 9-1-1—Oliver retreats to nature with his three beloved dogs. Unlike many celebrities drawn to Los Angeles’ frenetic pulse, he craves solitude. LA’s City life, as I know firsthand, can be exhausting, so it’s no surprise Oliver seeks refuge after grueling filming days that often stretch into the early hours, especially at a season’s end.

His hillside home just outside Los Angeles is a perfect sanctuary, though it can feel less idyllic when early-morning shoots for the new season force him out of bed while most are still hitting snooze.

Oliver remains fulfilled by his role as Evan “Buck” Buckley on 9-1-1, the first-responder drama that’s blending high-octane action with quieter, character-driven moments. Aa an adrenaline enthusiast, Oliver relishes performing his own stunts whenever possible. Yet he’s also drawn to roles with greater emotional depth, yearning for a “small and quiet” project that contrasts with the show’s often bombastic emergencies.

His talent for nuanced performance shone in episode 8×15, a heart-wrenching milestone for 9-1-1. The episode marked the end of an era with the death of Captain Bobby Nash, played masterfully by Peter Krause. Bobby, the 118’s captain and Buck’s surrogate father, succumbs to a deadly virus contracted during a sabotaged lab accident. The team, unaware of his condition, is devastated. The scene where Bobby bids farewell to Buck through a thick glass wall, followed by Buck’s solitary collapse in a sterile corridor, is the series’ most gut-punching moment. Oliver’s portrayal—raw, vulnerable, and breathtaking—left viewers aching to reach through the screen to comfort him. It’s a testament to his skill, delivering a performance that’s both shattering and unforgettable.
